CFOA

Lexington, NC

Since the conclusion of another successful season of competitive paintball, the CFOA has been diligently working to prepare for the 2010 season.   Part of the CFOA’s process of preparing for 2010 was to apply all that has been learned through various event surveys, email surveys, phone-calls with team captains and players, and the new CFOA Steering Committee. Through all of these sources, the 2010 season has been molded to give the players the best in regional paintball competition in the New Year. After weeks of careful research and deliberation, the CFOA is pleased to announce the following information for the 2010 season:

CFOA Steering Committee
The CFOA recognizes the importance of considering all the different views that are represented within the league when making decisions. These decisions have the potential to effect not just players and teams but also the fields at which the teams play out of. It is also important that all different views extending from the lower ranks through the upper tiers to be considered when decisions are made. The CFOA is very excited to announce the formation of the 2010 Steering Committee which has a wide diversity of representation. The Steering Committee’s role for the league will be to weigh all considerations when making decisions concerning the game, rules, the league and any classification issues. 2010 CFOA Steering Committee members are:  Darryl McCurry – Head Coach of the Hot Shots Kids program, Matt Sossoman – Avid tournament player and coach, Ken Barrett – Coach/Player and field owner, Jared Powell – Field Owner, Rob Staudinger – Coach/Player/Field owner and national Rules Committee member.

Player Classification Changes
The CFOA in conjunction with the APPA are excited to implement an automated classification system for all RaceTo players. With support of the APPA, classification rules will incorporate an individual’s performance over time and allow more flexibility for players to move up and down  classification levels. Additionally, older events will count less towards a player’s classification and some players may find that their classification level will drop before the start of the CFOA season.

CFOA 3Man Series
Due to the overwhelming success of the introductory year of the CFOA’s 3-Man Series in 2009, the Series has expanded to new fields and will now offer a separate Fall and Spring Series in 2010. The best teams from each of the fields participating in CFOA 3-Man Series will be invited to compete in the Regional Championship held at the end of each series. In an effort to encourage development of inexperienced tournament players, the divisions offered for the 3-Man Series will be D6 and D5. For more details including contact information for the participating 3-Man fields, please visit TheCFOA.com/3Man.

Rate of Fire
The CFOA has received numerous requests from the RaceTo players in 2009 to raise the rate of fire limitations. In an ongoing effort to provide the players with the experience they desire, the maximum rate of fire for the 2010 season will be raised to 12.5 balls per second for the RaceTo2 and the RaceToX formats but will remain at 10.5 balls per second for the CFOA RaceTo1 3 Man Series.

Player Statistics
The CFOA has plans to begin tracking player and team statistics in the 2010 Season. The league will begin tracking all D2 games and provide the results on the CFOA web-site. For the first time ever, players will be able to compare their performance against other players in the league.  The league has plans to implement this concept across all divisions as the system continues to develop. Stay tuned to the theCFOA.com for more details.

The CFOA is excited to bring these changes to the 2010 season and continue to provide paintball players with the very best in regional paintball tournaments. More information on the upcoming season will be released soon, including all venues and dates as well as entry fee and prize information. Please check TheCFOA.com for all of the latest updates.
